A Night at the Rumour Mill

Zebroski: Leaving early?
It's been a funny old fortnight. Normally during the transfer window there's a lot of hot air circulating The Den and talk of having irons in the fire but when push comes to shove we usually end up with the same playing staff at the end of the month with maybe the odd new face added to the ranks to keep the natives from completely revolting. But this year it has been different. A lot different.

Okay, so Adam Proudlock is still at Stockport County but Kenny Jackett has surprised many by bringing in a whole host of new faces, as well as turfing out a bit of dead wood. As predicted before the window opened, Luton Town's Ahmet Brkovic became a fully paid up member of The Lions fraternity while Jay Simpson extended his loan deal until the end of the season. Negotiations appear to be on-going with regards to Marcus Bignot but word on the street is that the QPR defender could well be on his way some time this week. The only downer as been Blackburn Rovers' decision not to play ball over Bryan Hodge - but even this deal doesn't appear completely dead.

On top of that we've signed a promising youngster in Marc Laird and a versatile centre forward in Adrian Forbes and released Brent Sancho and Bayo Akinfenwa. So far so good... And it could have got even better had Ben May not got delusions of grandeur and considered himself too good fo Shrewsbury Town!

So, what will the next fornight bring? Well if you're a News of the World reader then Kevin Betsy is next. The one-time bright young thing of Fulham has been plodding his trade around the lower leagues in recent years but reports suggest that Jackett has seen enough to convince him that he's worth getting from Bristol City. However, this move looks unlikely if he decides to chat to his current teammates Marvin Elliott and Darren Byfield...

And talking of Fulham, such is the surplus of goalkeepers at Craven Cottage that they are apparently thinking of letting us have one for the rest of the season while Chris Day rests his fat arse... leaving us with the choice of Kasey Keller or Tony Warner. Now, there is much debate about who was the better keeper of the two but after the 6-0 debacle at home to Rotherham United a couple of seasons ago there really is only one choice... Welcome home, Kasey!

Elsewhere, The Lions continue to be linked to Danny Cullip and Swansea's Darren Pratley while Ben May has been targetted by some more clubs but his agent as yet to break the news to him that they're not Real Madrid of AC Milan so the striker may yet remain at The Den, even though Jackett obviously doesn't rate him (along with most of the crowd, to be honest).

One striker who does look set to leave is Chris Zebroski, currently plying his trade in a stupid loan deal that didn't retain a recall clause. As reported on Millwall Mad last month, the player's current contract expires in the summer and with Jackett unable to take a look at him, the club will probably try to cash in before the window shuts.

With more activity promised, excitment levels are now hitting an-all time high!!
