Addicks attempt to hijack Spiller deal

Millwall boss Willie Donachie could miss out on his first summer transfer target after it was revealed that Gillingham midfielder Danny Spiller has been invited for a trial at Championship neighbours Charlton Athletic.

The 25-year-old had been in talks with Donachie at The Den and looked set to sign on a free transfer after he decided not to renew his contract with The Gills.

However, Addicks boss Alan Pardew is keen to inject some lower-league nous into his squad of Premiership fancy dans and looks set to hijack Donachie's attempts to sign Spiller.
