Akinde stays put

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has admitted that Ebbsfleet striker John Akinde is no longer a target after he captured Leeds United's Tresor Kandol last Friday.

Akinde, 19, had been linked with a move to The Den after the club made an offer for the player but the Lions manager has now ruled out a second bid for the player after their initial offer was rejected.

"We did put a bid in for John Akinde," explained Jackett. "But Liam (Daish) is not interested in selling at the moment, so unfortunately this is where we are.

"Should the case become different, we are hopeful about going back in for him."
