Alexander suffers setback

Gary Alexander is struggling to make the starting line-up for the first game of the season against Southampton after a cyst developed on his knee.

The striker has been unable to join in The Lions pre-season training as a result and looks likely to miss the club's two-game tour of the Republic of Ireland.

"We are taking things at a steady pace because we would like to avoid surgery if at all possible," physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website.

If Alexander does go under the knife he will definitely be ruled out of the game against The Saints.
