Berylson reassures fans

With speculation about the club's future growing, Millwall chairman John Berylson has tried to alay the fears of the fans by committing himself to The Lions, even if they do find themselves in the bottom tier of English football for the first time in over forty years.

Earlier this week the American businessman took the unprecedented step of sending a letter to every fanzine and website, urging their support and backing in the club's attempts to solve fans behaviour off the pitch and he seems to have been bitten by the football club as he looks to unravel the mess left by those previously in charge.

"I hate losing, and I have been tough to live with this season," he told the South London Press. "But I am not going to walk away.

"Relegation would be a disaster for the team but I hope the fans would stick with us and still want to watch the team. I think they realise we are doing our best for them.

"I am not contemplating leaving - I have tried not to think short-term. Our January signings prove that - because we want those players for the future. Players like Lewis Grabban, Dave Martin and Ryan Smith have not yet reached their peak. We want them to grow at this club.

"The squad is getting stronger. And I hope this time next year we are looking at a successful team."
