Burnige: Backing Berylson
With only days to go before the PLC's EGM, two former chairmen have caused a stir by declaring their intentions as the battle lines are drawn.

Peter de Savary was the first to show his hand by indictating that he plans to convert his loan to Millwall Football Club into shares. Although this reduces the club's debt it also means that de Savary will have a 6% shareholding which could prove decisive.

He is expected to side with Graham Ferguson Lacey at the EGM, giving Lacey a holding of 28%, a figure that matches current chairman John Berylson's stake in the club.

However, Berylson did receive some good news ahead of the meeting with the announcement that Jeff Burnige plans to back Berylson and vote against Lacey's proposals.

"Now that John and other board members have converted almost £2.5million of loans into shares, for me, that commitment has changed the position and some real benefit for the club has come from this situation," Burnige told the club's official site. "Accordingly, I have decided to vote against Mr Lacey's resolutions."

John G Berylson responded: "I am pleased that Jeff Burnige has decided to vote in support of the board against Mr Lacey.

"As I stated when I first became involved with the club, it was always my intention to convert loans into equity. Jeff has worked tremendously hard for Millwall over many years, and I know the club means a great deal to him and I am pleased that he has decided to vote both with myself and the board at next week's general meeting."
