Brammer: Looking forward to the new season
Millwall midfielder Dave Brammer can't wait to get down business when the new season starts tomorrow.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who many credit with turning around The Lions' fortunes last term, readily admits that he prefers matches with meaning rather than the tread-softly friendlies where players try to avoid injuries ahead of the big day.

"I definitely prefer it when there's something at stake," he told the South London Press. "We're all looking forward to the start of real business but even the experienced lads in our squad will have a bit more nerves than at other games.

"Thoughts go through your mind like 'Am I fit enough? Have I done enough?'"

And The Lions faithful will certainly be hoping that Brammer remains fit for the rest of the campaign, having become a vital cog in Willie Donachie's team, and he's hoping that the team can give the fans a winning start.

"It's a long trip for us but they've got a decent stadium," he continued. "It's nice to go somewhere that we had a good win only four months ago.

"You know when the crowd is with you and when they're not and I've had both. As long as you give everything you've got, they'll be behind you. If you have a dodgy 10 minutes, you know they'll be there when you need them."
