Brammer to go under the knife

Dave Brammer's hopes of securing a move to Port Vale look set to be dash after medical staff at Vale Park decided the player needs to undergo an operation to clear up a troublesome knee injury.

The 33-year-old, who went out on loan to The Valiants after falling out of favour at The Den, has had to sit on the sidelines, hinting an early return to The Lions.

"We have waited as long as we could to see if it would clear up," Vale boss Dean Glover told BBC Radio Stoke. "But the niggle is causing him aggravation."
