Byfield: Looking for an exit
Millwall Football Club have today confirmed that striker Darren Byfield's future at The Den is in doubt after he was omitted from manager Willie Donachie's plans for the forthcoming season - and excluded from the club's first-team photocall.

Whether or not Byfield would return to The Den after last season has been the topic of much discussion over the summer amongst fans and the club have revealed that the player handed in a transfer request last week following talks with the manager and chairman Stewart Till.

"From our point of view the door is certainly not closed on Darren," Till told the club's official site. "If after consideration he comes back to us and convinces Willie that he is totally committed to playing for Millwall the manager would welcome that.

"In the meantime discussions are ongoing with the player and his representative."

Following a bust-up with Richard Shaw on the club's Scottish Tour, Byfield has been training with the Millwall Academy and is being kept away from the first-team the club prepare for their first game of the season against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
