Lions midfielder Tim Cahill has played down rumours linking him with a £2 million move to Southampton and insists he is concentrating on earning a new contract with Milwall.

The Australian midfielder scored the winner against Walsall last weekend to set up an FA Cup fourth-round date with Telford and has been been hotly tipped to make a Premiership during January's transfer window.

But he told the South London Press: "I have been linked with Blackburn, Aston Villa and Southampton since I came here. It is a great compliment.

"Unless there is a bid on the table, I am going nowhere. So I will carry on doing my best and hopefully initiating talks on a new contract."
