According to reports in today's Sunday newspapers, Dennis Wise and Ray Wilkins are preparing to mount a bid to take over from Lions chairman Theo Paphitis at the end of the season.

The Mail on Sunday wrote that Wise and Wilkins are in the process of putting together a £5 million bid and have enlisted the help of former Chelsea colleague Gianluca Vialli - who was rumoured to be making a takeover two months ago. Now they are planning to lure back Gianfranco Zola in order to further boost the consortium's appeal.

Paphitis steps down at the end of the current campaign after eight years at the helm and at the moment, no successor has been named.
