Hackett: Due to sign
With only four days to go until the start of the new season, Millwall boss Nigel Spackman is still looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign and could make up to four new signings before the visit of Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Former Watford and Wimbledon midfielder Neal Ardley is set to sign from Cardiff City while reports in Denmark suggest that The Lions have all but captured striker Poul Hübertz from Aalborg.

Defender Maurice Ross meanwhile is expected to complete his signing today after the passing a medical yesterday afternoon. Should the deal go through, Ross, who was released by Wolverhampton Wanderers during the summer, will become the third former Gers player to join the club during the close season and was recommended to Spackman by new captain Derek McInnes.

"Nigel told me he was looking for a right-back the other week and I recommended Maurice," revealed McInnes. "I spoke to Maurice and he came down with an open mind. He looked good in training and was again impressive against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

"Maurice was a YTS player at Ibrox when I was there. I have always been impressed with his attitude and he is very ambitious.

"He has had a couple of other offers, so I am delighted he is coming down to play for us. He is exactly what we need at the club at the moment."

The fourth player expected to join the fold is winger Chris Hackett from Hearts. The one-time Oxford United player has impressed the manager since arriving on trial and was on the bench for Saturday's game against Crystal Palace.
