Five gets Den over-excited

Millwall's goal-shy attack suddenly awoke from its slumber yesterday afternoon to hit five goals past a hapless Tranmere Rovers side who were there for the taking.

A James Henry hat-trick plus a goal each from Andy Frampton and Steve Morison did the damage but having gone 4-0 up after less than half-an-hour many fans were disappointed that The Lions took their foot of the gas in the second half, adding a fifth with just three minutes left to play.

John Barnes' outfit were truly shocking and although The Lions hit five they could - and maybe should - have had a lot more. The management team, however, were understandably happy with the performance that has helped to relieve some of the pressure off of the shoulders of manager Kenny Jackett after the woeful performances against Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town.

"These five goals will give the players a lift in terms of their belief in that we can score goals as a team," Assistant Manager Joe Gallen told BBC London. "Certain individuals came up today with some good performances in front of goal.

"The last couple of weeks we've not conceded many goals which has been the strength of the team. What we want to do is maintain that solidity and of course we need to start adding some goals to our games if we're going to win them."
