Hayles sustained the injury during the first half at Upton Park and was replaced early in the second period by Paul Ifill.
"We lost Barry Hayles against West Ham, and that doesn't help our situation", revealed manager Dennis Wise.
"We don't know the extent of the injury. Barry wanted to carry on, but his heart was ruling his head a little bit."
