Hayles out?

Millwall's new signing Barry Hayles is facing a battle to be fit for Thursday's UEFA Cup tie against Ferencvaros after sustaining a rib injury during Sunday's game at Ipswich Town.

Lions assistant boss Ray Wilkins confirmed: "Barry has cracked two ribs and must be very doubtful for Thursday's UEFA Cup tie. According to the doctor it's a question of Barry being able to play when he's pain-free, but this type of injury is a very painful one."

Speaking to the club's official website, Hayles himself added: "I went for an X-ray this morning which indicated the nature of the problem and realistically it does look unlikely at the moment that I'll be fit for the Ferencvaros game."

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard have reported that fellow striker Daniele Dichio is also a major doubt. Dichio, who had scored three goals in three games prior to yesterday's clash, was ruled out of the Ipswich game due to illness and there is a major question mark over whever or not he'll recover in time to face the Hungarians.
