Shaw: Defensive rock
Millwall boss Willie Donachie was quick to praise his players following Saturday's 1-0 win over Bournemouth - The Lions' third on the bounce - and singled out defender Richard Shaw in particular.

The veteran centre half - who also coaches the reserves at The Den - has rolled back the years this season to become a rock at the heart of The Lions' defence. He may not have the pace he once had, but the wise old head on his shoulder has ensured that he hasn't embarrassed himself so far this season.

"Richard has been fantastic this season," said Donachie after the game. "He's been the one consistent factor. The whole squad is working hard but Richard is the boss of it all.

"We need him to stay fit because you can't beat experience, it's as simple as that."

Donachie also praised goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley - who made three outstanding saves to deny Bournemouth - but admits that the youngster still needs to improve his overall game.

"Lenny played well but like the others he's got lots to learn. He's a young player who's got the potential to be a top keeper."
