Jackett prepared for Puncheon wait

The winger enjoyed a successful loan spell at The Den earlier this season and Millwall wanted him back this month, but they have not been able to agree a fee with Saints.

Jackett has instead drafted in former Watford and Fulham wideman Hameur Bouazza on a contract until the end of the campaign, while Puncheon remains out of favour at St Mary's.

He said: "We'll keep our eye on Jason's situation.

"At the moment we have not been able to match Southampton's valuation, which we respect, but we needed players in now and it's an opportunity for Hameur."
