Lack of killer instinct proves costly

Millwall's lack of firepower up front arguably cost them all three points in last night's League One encounter away to Exeter City and condemn The Lions to their third winless game on the spin.

Kenny Jackett's men have failed to register a victory in the League since he was named Manager of the Month for October and his side have managed to pick up just two points from the last three games against some of the division's weaker sides.

Dave Martin opened the scoring against the run of play from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Bertie Cozic in the first half but despite Exeter's Steve Tully seeing red in the second half for two bookable offences, The Lions couldn't finish their opponents off.

A number of decent chances went begging as both Steve Morison and Jason Price again failed to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the absence of Neil Harris and Gary Alexander through injury and Millwall were made to pay for their woeful finishing when Adam Stansfield struck the equaliser two minutes from time.

With Harris still struggling and Alexander ruled out of Saturday's game against Staines Town, The Lions will do well not to be dumped out of the FA Cup by their non-league opponents this weekend after two very poor performances from a side that is capable of so much more.
