Lee: Pleased with performance
Millwall manager Colin Lee took some satisfaction from The Lions second half display last night after they were reduced to ten men following Adrian Serioux's second yellow card.

"You can't question the effort that's for sure," reflected Lee. "You saw a team out there really prepared to give their all for this football club.

"It was important for the players that they got at least a point out of the game once we went down to ten men because they put everything they had into it. I want them to get the ball and play, to want it and pass it, and I thought we did that quite well in the first half, but clearly we do need to get more shots on goal.

"The sending off was unneccesary and made life very difficult for us."

Serioux walked shortly after halftime for a second bookable offence when he kicked the ball away in frustration following a decision going against him. Ironically, the dismissal came just hours after the Football Association fined the club £10,000 for last season's disciplinary problems and Chief Executive Ken Brown's promise that the situation will improve.

"Had we kept 11 men on the park I probably wouldn't have introduced Carlos Fangueiro as early as I did", continued Lee. "He hasn't played for two months and you could see he was short of fitness. but he might have to keep playing because we haven't got that many options.

"It's a nothing incident when you consider some of the challenges that went on out there. I was hoping that the referee was going to take his time, talk to the player and tell him not to do it again.

"What fascinates me is that someone picking up the ball and running away with it after a foul  doesn't get booked. I thought it was a very soft red card."
