Lee: Departing The Den
Millwall Director of Football Colin Lee has left the club following a Board Meeting on Friday afternoon.

Lee, who took over from Steve Claridge as manager at the start of the season, had been "moved upstairs" just before Christmas, with Assistant Manager Dave Tuttle taking over at the helm.

The decision was confirmed by Chairman Peter de Savary in a statement issued late last night.

"Colin Lee has now parted company with the club", said de Savary. "We would like to thank him for his endeavours on behalf of Millwall Football Club and wish him every success for the future."

The statement also confirmed that David Tuttle and Tony Burns will continue as manager and assistant manager at least until the end of the season.

"Tutts and Burnsy had previously been told to carry on with the job they were doing until further notice," continued the Chairman. "But we felt that it would be beneficial for everyone if we made it clear that they will be responsible for guiding the team through to the end of the season.

"Since they took over management duties, we have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes which has seen us lose just twice in eight League and Cup games, and given every indication that we are capable of retaining our Championship status."

The new chairman also announced the signing of winger Lloyd Dyer from West Bromwich Albion and was hopeful of adding to the squad further before Tuesday.

"Having strengthened the playing staff with the signing of Berry Powel earlier this week from Den Bosch in Holland, we have now completed the signing of Lloyd Dyer from West Bromwich Albion on Friday evening," he said.

"Furthermore we have made an offer for another player which we are hoping might lead to a third acquisition on Monday. We are also aware that seven days after the transfer window closes, we will have the option of bringing in further players on loan where necessary.

"Whilst our overriding aim must be to stay in the Championship this season, we will continue to review our strategic options for the long term future of the club.

"The players have demonstrated that they are fully behind Dave Tuttle and Tony Burns and are committed to winning the battle against relegation."
