According to reports filtering through from the Continent, Millwall are about to make a serious offer for Belgian defender Carl Hoefkens.

The Lions have apparently watched Hoefkens on several occasions, most recently against Lierse and Oostende, and have been impressed by what they have seen. The 25-year-old, who is currently with Jupiler League side Germinal-Beerschot, has won four caps for his country.

Hoefkens made his breakthrough in 1996 with Lierse, where he stayed until 2001 when he moved to KFC Lommelse SK. However, Lommel's financial troubles led to a switch to Westerlo on a free transfer before he was signed by Germinal on an initial one-year-contract with the option to extend it into the 2004/05 season.
