Millwall Football Club have announced financial losses of £5.2 million for the last financial year but this figure is a marked improvement on the previous year, despite the club failing to gain promotion.

The trip to Wembley probably helped to fill the club's coffers but delays in the availability of this year's replica kits show that more could still be done to improve the overall running of the club.

However, chairman John G. Berylson was pleased with the results.

"We went very close to winning promotion and that near miss has only made us more determined to achieve it in the very near future," he told The Wharf.  "I believe the key to our renewed success is that we have achieved a level of stability that is just beginning to pay off.

"Due to the financial uncertainty in today's world we have continued to fund the company and are very conscious of the financial issues facing football clubs at all levels from Conference to Premiership.

"As I have said many time before, this is a very special football club and if we all pull together and continue to work hard it will be a successful one."
