Essex-born Peter de Savary is the new Chairman of Millwall Football Club, formerly taking over on Tuesday, 29th November.

The news was announced to the London Stock Exchange this afternoon and brings to an end Theo Paphitis' eight-year reign at the helm.

A self-made millionaire, de Savary is best known for his chain of golf clubs around the world but the international entrepreneur also boast interests in such diverse fields as petroleum, shipping, hospitality & tourism and yachting. He once took part in the America's Cup in 1983 and is interested in challenging for the trophy again next year.

The 61-year-old also owns a number of castles and estates, including Skibo Castle in Scotland, and is married with five daughters.

However, at this moment in time, his views on Kevin Braniff remain a closely guarded secret.
