Millwall could have a new manager in place by the weekend after a suitable candidate was identified following a series of successful interviews.

At least six prospective managers were invited to attend an interview, including former Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway, and although the club is not yet prepared to reveal the identity of their preferred choice it is believed that one of the six was invited back a second time.

"I'm looking forward to getting back into the game", revealed Holloway. "This gardening is bad for your health.

"'I had an interview with Millwall recently and I was very impressed. I was there for two and a half hours and they were nice people.

"The new chairman Stewart Till seems a good bloke. It is the responsibility of the board and whoever they choose as manager to get things moving forward because it is a big job."
