Chris Hackett could be ruled out for the rest of the season if he requires surgery on his injured knee.

The popular 24-year-old picked up the injury during The Lions' draw with Gillingham last week and missed the Bournemouth victory at the weekend. He is set to undergo an exploratory operation to assess the full extent of the damage to his knee and is almost certain to miss the club's next few fixtures.

"It's a blow for Chris, who had worked his way back into the first team," said caretaker assistant boss Colin West. "Once he has had the surgery we will know the full extent of the problem."
