May: Missing tour
Nigel Spackman set off for Iceland this morning, taking a 22-man squad with him, for his first game in charge of Millwall and with ten new faces amongst the squad thtere is a high level of optimism surrounding the club following last season's relegation.

The Lions will kick-off their short tour against Throttur tomorrow afternoon before facing RK Reykjavik on Tuesday but one face that was missing from the party that departed The Den was striker Ben May.

Last season's top scorer is set to go under the knife adter sustaining a shoulder injury during the summer break and could miss the start of the new season.

"He fell over during the close season, and it looks like he is going to be out for a couple of months," revealed Spackman.

"It's a bit too early to talk about bringing in another target man until we know exactly what the situation is, but it is something we can possibly look at further down the line. We want to give the players here a chance.

"Darren Byfield has come in, Barry Hayles is looking sharp, we have young Marvin (Williams), Tom (Brighton) and Gavin (Grant) too. At the moment I'm quite happy with what we've got, but that's not to say we're not always looking to strengthen."
