Keane: Almost a Lion
Just hours after Roy Keane signed for Celtic, Millwall chairman Peter de Savary has revealed that The Lions made their own attempt to bring the Irish international to The Den.

Speaking to the official site, PdeS confirmed that Millwall had indeed joined the likes of Real Madrid in the race for Keane's signature.

"I had several conversations on the matter, and I believed that in spite of the quality of some of the other interested clubs, we were in with a genuine chance of persuading Roy to come here.

"As it turned out, Roy has decided to go elsewhere, but it was worthwile talking to him and I wish him well. It may not have happened this time, but who knows what the future might hold.

"If nothing else, this should indicate to people that we are very serious about strengthening our squad significantly, and I will be talking with Colin Lee at length on Friday morning to go through his plan for when the transfer window opens."
