Till: Searching for new manager
New chairman Stewart Till hopes to start drawing up a shortlist of managerial candidates next week with the aim of appointing a new boss within a matter of days in the hope of avoiding a repeat of last summer's shenanigans.

"We have the names of 10-12 candidates," he told the South London Press. "We are setting up meetings with some of them. Some are under contract. Those meetings will be in days rather than weeks.

"We do not want to repeat the protracted process of last summer. We want the matter dealt with promptly.

"If we get the right manager, I will have done 80 per cent of my job. If we get the wrong one, then whatever I do, will not work."

The new chairman also revealed that The Lions will be offering a generous salary in terms of League One standards in the hope of getting the right man.

"The calibre of candidates who have indicated that they would like the job is very impressive," he continued. "And once an appointment is made and the terms of the job are set out, neither the board nor the chairman will dabble in the process."
