Millwall striker Gavin Grant has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to murder in connection with a gang killing that took place last year.

The 22-year-old, who was signed on a free transfer from Gillingham last summer, appeared at the Old Bailey last Tuesday and has been bailed to reappear in November.

The charges relate to the murder of 24-year-old Jahmall Moore, who was gunned down in his car in Harlesden, North West London last year, which police believe was a connected to a gang war that has already claimed two lives.

Despite the serious nature of the offence, Millwall Football Club are sticking by the player at this moment in time.

“Gavin strenuously denies the charge," said a club spokesman. "He is not in breach of his contract and is continuing to train.”
