Marshall: knocked out
Millwall's Andy Marshall was allowed home after undergoing a number of brain scans and medical tests following his collision with Preston North End's Richard Cresswell during yesterday's 2-1 victory at The Den.

Marshall was knocked out after bravely diving at the feet of Cresswell and needed ten minutes of emergency treatment by club physios and doctors before being taken to Kings College Hospital.

Despite getting the all-clear from medical staff at the hospital, Marshall has been ruled out of Saturday's clash against Sheffield United.

"I can't remember the incident but I had scans and then was allowed to go home five hours later," said Marshall.

"But I am aim to play in the last game of the season against Burnley."

Meanwhile, team doctor Des Thompson had nothing but praise for St. John's Ambulance staff after the incident as he spoke to the club's Official Website.

"I looked at a TV replay of the incident and it looks as though all the lights went out when his head hit the ground after one of their players accidentally kneed him in the face.

"We knew from the other guys around him that it was pretty serious straight away; we had to clear his airway and get the oxygen on. He was unresponsive for a good two minutes before we put on the neck collars and put the blocks in place. It is always better to do too much rather than risk not doing enough.

"I thought that the paramedics and St John's Ambulance did everything right. A couple of times a season they actually come to the ground with me and we rehearse a situation such as this, with a player or spectator unconscious and with a neck injury.

"Everything went by the book."
