Millwall striker Ben May has joined League One side Colchester United on a two-month loan, the club has announced.

The former youth team player has been sent to Layer Road - where he previously enjoyed a successful loan spell in 2003 - in order to gain some more first team experience after spending last season at Brentford.

May, 20, returned to The Den for pre-season training and featured in some of the club's pre-season friendlies but with Stefan Moore coming in on loan from Aston Villa, the management team of Dennis Wise and Ray Wilkins felt that the striker would be better off at Colchester in the short-term.
