Millwall striker Ben May will stay with Colchester United for another month after impressing U's boss Phil Parkinson with his performances since the start of the season.

The player's loan deal with the League One side was originally set for two months but with striker Craig Fagan still recovering from a hernia operation, Parkinson decided to keep May for an extra month and explained the reasons behind his decision to the Evening Gazette in Colchester.

"It's a combination of reasons really," said Parkinson. "We're obviously without Craig at the moment, but Ben has really impressed.

"He has got some important goals during his spell here and his attitude has been top rate, so it makes sense to keep him."

May has only made three starts since joining the Layer Road club but has impressed with his performances has a substitue, scoring the winner against West Brom in the Carling Cup last month.

The 20-year-old will be out to impress further during the next month, having fallen down the pecking order at The Den, as his contract set to expire next summer.
