"I think we can still avoid that," he said.

"But if we have to go on too long, waiting for an improvement, we could end up fighting to stay out of the drop zone.

"There is a danger that is going to happen. The way we are playing, we do not deserve to be any higher than we are.

"At the moment we do not look like a team that is going to score two or three, when we have always been like that until now. In the past we have looked like we were going to score with every attack.

"With an improvement in the form of Steve Claridge and Neil Harris, we could do better.

"There's something missing at the moment. I said last week it is pace and we seem to be missing that speed throughout the team - because we are missing Richard Sadlier, Steven Reid and Tim Cahill."
