McGhee prepared to take the risk

Veteran striker Steve Claridge grabbed his fourth goal of the season to secure the points for the Lions and McGhee said: "We could have scored more but we took a bit of an aerial bombardment in the second half and I always felt we needed a second goal.

"We didn't get one but we came through it although it was a bit scary towards the end."

For a side that has struggled so far this season, McGhee is surprising some fans by playing what looks an ambitious 4-3-3 system.

He added: "When we play with three up front we do tend to surrender possession quite easily but we are aware of the problems of the formation.

"However, we think we are going to score more goals with it so we are prepared to take the risk despite the dangers it may give us."
