McGhee upset by abuse from fans

McGhee walked away from the Royals managers job in December 1994 to take charge of Leicester City and he is yet to be forgiven by many of the Reading faithful.

"It does upset me," said the Lions boss. "I've nothing against Reading Football Club, and I still live in the town. I still get very upset when the crowd get on my back.

"I took them to the top of the Second Division and attendances went from 3,000 to capacity at Elm Park.

"I can understand that there was some reason for them to be upset at the time, but eight years on I simply don't deserve this."
