The striker has been sidelined since early January with an ankle injury but will play for the reserves on Tuesday and could then be added to the squad for Saturday's trip to Watford.
"Josh will play a reserve game on Tuesday," said Lions manager Kenny Jackett.
"If he gets 90 minutes under his belt I think he'll be available for the weekend.
"He is a good addition and with his injury, he hasn't had a chance for an opportunity yet."
