Mildenhall relieved to be a Lion

New signing Steve Mildenhall hopes playing for Millwall will put a smile back on his face. The 32-year-old goalkeeper signed a one-year deal with the Lions on Tuesday after Southend allowed him to leave. "All I've wanted to do was concentrate on playing football after what went on at Southend, because a lot of things were happening that were stopping me thinking about football," Mildenhall told the 'News'. "I can't talk too much about what's been happening at Southend for a number of reasons, but it's well-documented about all the troubles they have there." Mildenhall, who decided to tender his notice on the back of the club's inability to pay his wages, now hopes he can concentrate solely of playing football. "What better job in the world is there than to play football?" he added. "It's something you have to relish, especially as you get older, because you realise that it doesn't last forever. "You need to have a smile on your face to be working hard, and that's what I'll get from being here. I'm just looking forward to what will be just a great challenge."
