Millwall Football Club have hired a new Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance. The new face at the club is Andy Ambler, who held a similar position with London neighbours Fulham of over seven years and played an important role in The Cottagers return to Craven Cottage.

However, one suspects that it was his previous employment in the property industry that the club were particularly interested in, baring in mind the on-going regeneration project that has seen The Den become something of a prospective gold mine.

His key role will be to help the club improve its financial position as well as driving new revenues, which could spell the end of a number of players' careers at The Den.

"I am very much looking forward to the challenge that working at Millwall offers," he told the club's official website. "it is a very exciting time for the club and I am delighted to be given this opportunity to be part of its future."
