Millwall enjoyed a winning start to their brief tour of Canada with a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Metro All Stars.

In spite of the close scoreline, The Lions controlled the game from start to finish, although there was a hearts-in-mouths incident at the end of the match when a goal-mouth scramble almost saw the All-Stars equalise.

The game, played at the Coquitlam Stadium, was hampered by some very long grass on the pitch but by the end of the first half Millwall were two up through goals from Paul Ifill and Barry Cogan, with trialist Gareth Farrelly having a hand in both goals.

The second half witness a string of changes but despite Mike Gomes pulling a goal back 11 minutes after half time, Millwall held out until the final whistle.

Team: Stack (Masterson), Dunne, Lawrence (Dolan), Ward, Livermore, Cogan (Farrelly), Elliott (Weston), Morris, Farrelly (Sweeney), Harris (Braniff), Ifill.
