Morris: Arrested last week
In the wake of the arrest of Millwall's Jody Morris for drink-driving offences, the club has felt it necessary to release a press statement.

The midfielder was arrested last week after being spotted by police driving on the wrong side of the road after consuming almost three times the legal limit of alcohol. He was banned from driving after pleading guilty to drink-driving at Greenwich Magistrates Court on Friday.

The statement, issued earlier this evening, read as follows:

Millwall Football Club are aware of the judgement against Jody Morris following a recent arrest for a drink/driving offence. The club has made it clear to the player that his conduct has been unacceptable and we anticpate that he will now focus his attention on returning to full fitness and playing football once again.

Whilst we acknowledge that he has been through a frustrating and difficult period following a lengthy injury lay-off, we do not condone his actions. The club will now support Jody as he seeks to rebuild his career and reputation, and we look forward to seeing him become a positive role model to young supporters through his future conduct both on and off the field.

Morris, 27, is still recovering from an injury sustained at the end of last season and was expected to be back by Christmas
