Sweeney: Million Dollar Baby
Having endured a shaky start to the new football season, Millwall Football Club will be hoping that things will take a turn for the better tomorrow when they present their case and evalution of former winger Peter Sweeney to the transfer tribunal.

Sweeney, 20, left the club under the Bosman ruling earlier in the summer for Stoke City after both clubs offered the Scottish U-21 international a contract and although he hass yet to make his debut for his new club, Millwall have valued the player at £1 million.

In return, the Staffordshire club offered The Lions a pitiful five-figure sum and will argue that Millwall only offered Sweeney a contract once Stoke's interest in the player became known.

Stoke are confident that the tribunal will rule in their favour but seem to have overlooked Sweeney's progress with the London club over the past four seasons. The former youth team players is seen as a very bright prospect and was part of Walter Smith's Scotland Futures squad last season.

Should the tribunal take into account his European experience and his role in getting Millwall to the FA Cup Final in 2004, Stoke could find themselves with a hefty compensation bill.
