The Den: Getting smaller
Having been devoid of atmosphere all season, things could get worse at The Den next season should The Lions find themselves in League One.

Poor performances on the pitch and a heavy-handed stewarding policy implemented by former chairman Theo Paphitis has seen Millwall's average attendance drop from 16,000 during the 2001/02 season to just 9,500 this year. And with The Lions almost certain to be relegated at the end of the season, the club are considering closing certain tiers to save on police and stewarding costs.

When the club last went down, ten years ago in 1996, gates fell to 5,000 - one quarter of the grounds, 20,000 capacity and the board have previously shut the lower tiers for Auto Windscreen Shield ties and other cup games.
