Lee: Looking for funds
Having operated on a shoe-string budget for most of the season, Millwall manager Colin Lee is hoping that new chairman Peter de Savary will allow him the necessary funds to bring in fresh faces over the coming weeks.

Lee saw his Lions side win at home in the League for the first time this season last night with a 1-0 victory over Norwich City, but the manager is under no illusions about the weaknesses of his squad.

"It feels great to win; I am told that's the first time at home since April 21.

"I am pleased for the players, you could see the commitment out there but if we hadn't won that I'd have thought someone up there didn't like us. We've had to deal with all sorts today with injuries and such so everyone deserves a lot of credit.

"We have to play with that energy and the problem is trying to get that level of commitment that we had tonight."

The Lions were forced to field several players out of position because of injuries and suspensions and with Paul Jones, Ady Williams, Jermaine Wright and Phil Ifil all set to return to their parent clubs in the near future, Lee is hoping he'll be able to bring in some new faces with a little help from de Savary.

"I've met Peter and he's an enthusiastic guy," said Lee. "He was going to listen to the game on his yacht somewhere. I'm sure he'll be pleased with the result and the squad are going to stay at his castle in Devon all- expenses-paid for a couple of nights as a reward.

"He offered us the incentive before our last game at Sheffield United but Theo came into the dressing room before the match to say the offer stood - it's a terrific gesture.

"Theo also told me he was giving up the chairmanship and handing over to Peter. I think he's going to be very good for us and it will be great to have someone to help. He asked me what it would take to keep the club up in terms of players arriving in the transfer window."
