Lawrence: Not a happy bunny
Millwall defender Matt Lawrence has launched an outspoken attack at the board over the club's current position in the football league.

Speaking to the South London Press, the 31-year-old criticised the way the club has been run into the ground by the current crop of directors and blamed The Lions' relegation worries on lack of decent signings over the course of the season.

"I am not happy with what has gone on at the club - and that will not change if we stay up," said Lawrence.

"The club has not been treated well by the board since the summer. It has been a shambles.

"We have not brought in enough players of the calibre of Colin Cameron and Zak Whitbread.

"Colin is a very good player - he is very experienced, and has played for Scotland, and was bought by Wolves for almost £2million. He is good on the ball and is great as the spare man in the middle. He is, at last, the kind of player Millwall deserves - but we needed three or four like him.

"If we stay up, there will still need to be investment in the squad to bring in others like him."

The popular defender was also perplexed at the club's financial situation, despite recent on-field successes.

"The wage bill will go down in the summer," he continued. "And already it is not very big. We got to the FA Cup Final and into Europe and sell players, yet still find ourselves losing millions every year.

"Every Saturday, you have to put it at the back of your mind, but having four managers, 10 different coaches and four chairmen since this time last year does not help anyone."
