Edwards, 18, signed his first professional contract last season and has been the subject of interest for a number of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, if rumours are to be believed.
The Reds are already in talks with David Amoo, who came up through the Academy ranks, and it is thought the Merseyside giants could make a double swoop for the pair.
