The 20-year-old Frenchman has been training with The Lions for the past week week and has impressed Mark McGhee and his backroom staff.
Fofana, who joined the Italian club's youth team from French side Red Star two years ago, has previously had a spell on loan at Greek side PAOK Salonika last term.
