Alexander: Moving south?
Millwall appear to be on the verge of their first summer signings after media speculation surrounding Leyton Orient striker Gary Alexander intensified over the weekend.

The 27-year-old striker, who scored 12 goals for The O's last season, is believed to be in talks with The Lions and today turned down a move to Northampton Town, further fuelling the rumours that he is on his way to The Den.

However, with Willie Donachie still away on holiday a deal is unlikely to be completed until the start of next week at the very earliest, as Chief Operating Officer Andy Ambler pointed out on the club's official website.

"Willie has identified a number of players he would like and the board are supporting him as we attempt to strengthen the squad in a bid to mount a promotion challenge next season.

"At this stage it would be inappropriate for us to confirm or deny the inevitable speculation surrounding individual players. Those who are out of contract at the end of this month are doubtless speaking to other clubs as well.

"However, we are making every effort to secure the services of those who Willie has targeted."
