Departing can be such sweet sorrow but for Jay Simpson it may just be a temporary absence.

The Arsenal youngster, who has been holding his own on the wing for The Lions in recent weeks, has impressed manager Kenny Jackett with his performances and attitude, so much so in fact that the Millwall boss is set to enquire about the player's future when he talks to Arsene Wenger about Simpson next week.

Simpson originally signed on as a back-up striker but has spent most of his time at The Den on the flanks, scoring four times in the process.

"Jay has a future," said Jackett in the South London Press. "His confidence has grown on the wing."
