Simpson: Unlikely to return
Millwall boss Kenny Jackett has told fans that Arsenal's Jay Simpson and Reading's Jem Karacan are unlikely to rejoin the club after circumstances surrounding the players changed over the summer.

Simpson has been an unlikely star of The Gunners' pre-season campaign, scoring in their win over Barnet before featuring in all three games of the reds' recent Austrian tour, and has already stated that he wants to stay at The Emirates in order to fight for his place.

Jackett told supporters at the club's Fans Forum that although Arsenal haven't ruled out another loan he doesn't expect the striker to be wearing a Millwall kit any time soon.

Karacan on the other hand was revealed to be a genuine transfer target for The Lions' boss but Reading rejected Jackett's advances after The Royals relegation from The Premiership last season.

"I asked about Karacan in the summer," the manager told last night's audience. "I saw him score for their first team and asked if Reading would sell him but was told no - it might have been different if they had stayed in the Premier League."
