Spackman: Favourite for the job?
Nigel Spackman today emerged as the favourite in the race for the vacant manager's post at Millwall.

The former Sheffield United and Barnsley boss was tipped to be the next Lions boss in today's Sun newspaper and other sources close to the club have confirmed that the Sky TV pundit has been interviewed for the position. But the club has refused to comment, merely releasing a brief statement.

"There will be no announcement yet," said a Millwall spokesman. "The process is still ongoing."

Spackman's last managerial position ended in October 2001 and since then he has concentrated on his media work, making him a surprise choice should the rumours be true.

Former Grays Athletic manager Mark Stimson recently is also interested in the role while ex-QPR boss Ian Holloway has also been interviewed.
